From Visibility to Value
A CMO-Led Growth Engagement at the Intersection of Global Marketing, Economic Development, and Women’s Entrepreneurship
| Sector | Geography | UN SDG Alignment | Engagement Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creative Space Marketplace | US Consultant — UK Client | SDG5 — Gender Equality | Pro Bono | CMO-Level |
Executive Summary
This engagement sits at the convergence of marketing excellence, global economic development, women’s entrepreneurship, and investment readiness — treated with the same rigour and accountability as a fully retained CMO mandate.
This case study documents a Chief Marketing Officer engagement with a women-owned, UK-based online creative space marketplace — undertaken as an extension of a commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG5) — Gender Equality — and broader work in economic development across international markets.
Operating from the United States and engaging a founding team based in the United Kingdom, this project reflects the global dimension of a consulting practice built on the belief that strategic marketing investment is itself an act of economic development. The engagement spans digital infrastructure, content strategy, search visibility, AI/LLM surfacing, community engagement, and exit-readiness positioning.
The primary objective: move the business from minimal measurable market presence to a performance-ready platform capable of attracting investment and achieving a target EBITDA — while building the founders’ personal visibility as a direct signal of investor confidence.
Problem Statement
Two women founders had built a functioning online marketplace connecting creative professionals with curated real estate environments for production use. Despite a strong operational model, a pipeline of 500+ locations, and a well-defined target audience, the business presented critical gaps across three dimensions:
| Gap Area | Description |
|---|---|
| Digital Visibility | Website analytics reflected near-zero measurable engagement. Existing tools — including heatmapping, CRM, and social scheduling — were in place but neither optimised nor integrated into a coherent marketing strategy. |
| Market Positioning | The brand lacked the structured marketing architecture needed to compete in an emerging marketplace category, attract high-value full-day and multi-day bookings, and surface in both traditional search engines and AI-driven discovery platforms. |
| Investment Readiness | With a company exit as a stated strategic objective, the business required a CMO-level operating framework capable of demonstrating measurable growth, founder visibility, and scalable systems that would withstand investor and acquirer scrutiny. |
Methodology
The engagement was structured around three strategic verticals, approached through a systems-thinking framework with SMART goals, defined benchmarks, and measurable progress indicators established from day one.
Vertical 1 — Digital & Search Infrastructure
- Conducted a full audit of the existing technology stack — heatmapping, GA4 analytics, CRM, and social scheduling — to identify optimisation opportunities without incremental technology investment
- Developed a proprietary keyword analysis mapped to core audience segments (photographers, production companies, and brands) to strengthen search engine visibility and AI/LLM surfacing
- Produced sample content and structured SEO and LLM visibility recommendations to establish a replicable content architecture
- Identified and flagged the highest-engagement website touchpoint (“Book a Location”) as a priority for AI-assisted conversion optimisation
Vertical 2 — Social Media & Influencer Ecosystem
- Assessed current social channels and identified a strategic shift from brand-only content to founder-led personal visibility as a core priority ahead of exit
- Recommended and structured an influencer partnership framework targeting showcase content across curated real estate environments, events, and brand partnerships
- Designed a social content cadence aligned to the booking journey and audience behaviour data drawn from heatmap analysis
- Deprioritised low-performing channels and concentrated resources across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Pinterest
Vertical 3 — Community & In-Person Engagement
- Built a five-vertical community engagement calendar spanning industry tradeshows, partner events, investment-related events, outbound company-led events, and influencer partnerships
- Introduced seasonality mapping to align event activity with peak booking periods and low-competition visibility windows
- Advised on founder personal visibility as a direct investor-readiness signal at the company’s current growth stage
- Recommended non-digital community events in highest venue-density regions to drive press coverage, property-owner relationships, and inbound customer acquisition
Throughout, the engagement was delivered with the cultural sensitivity and contextual awareness required when a US-based consultant operates within a UK business environment — respecting market nuances in both communications and strategic recommendations.
